A man has died after he was struck in a hit-and-run by a car "travelling at speed" on the wrong side of the road in Manchester, police have said.

The 33-year-old was taken to hospital after he was hit crossing while Dickenson Road in the Longsight area of the city at about 21:30 BST on Monday, and later died.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, Greater Manchester Police said.

The force has repeated an appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.
