Public vote chooses name for market redevelopment

The development includes public space which will open up Spadesbourne Brook

A new development on the site of a former market hall in Worcestershire has been named following a public vote.
The new community building, commercial development and public space in Bromsgrove will be known as Nailers Yard.
The district council said nearly two-thirds of the "hundreds" of votes cast favoured the name, which is a nod to the town's nail-making heritage.
Regeneration project manager Rebecca McElliott said: "This new development represents so many opportunities for the town.. and I am pleased its new name holds such significance for residents."
The development is aimed at boosting Bromsgrove's economy by increasing visitor numbers and providing office space "to support business start-ups and co-working spaces".
New open space around the buildings will open up Spadesbourne Brook, encouraging biodiversity, and provide seating and landscaping.

The vote allowed people in Bromsgrove to pick a name for the new development
Nailers Yard is part of the work funded by a government levelling-up grant of £14.5m.
The site has previously been used as a temporary events space.
Other projects paid for by the grant include the former fire station site on Windsor Street and improvements to public spaces in the town centre.
The council said the development would be completed by early 2026, having previously expected its delivery this year.
