Visits to a Household Recycling Centre have been postponed after an "unforeseen driver shortage".

There has been a build up of material at the Peterborough recycling site because skips could not be transported to offsite treatment or processing locations.

As a result, the site was not able to accept hardcore waste or soil for two days.

Peterborough City Council said as of this afternoon, it had skips being taken out and expected services to be fully restored by the end of Friday.

Due to the operational difficulties the council had advised residents to only visit the site if it was urgent.
