Work to regenerate city centre quarter to begin

The development hopes to create a diverse economy in Shrub Hill

Work to regenerate part of Worcester city centre is set to begin this month.

The redevelopment of the Shrub Hill Quarter aims to create up to 5,000 jobs and more than 500 homes, the county council said.

It will include removing an old, unused industrial unit along the canal to help connect it with the city centre. A pathway will be built to link Pheasant Street to Padmore Street and the existing Cromwell Street bridge over the canal.

The Isaac Maddox House will also be refurbished as part of the plans and turned into a mix of offices and commercial spaces.

"These initial works are an exciting milestone as we move forward, bringing new homes, business opportunities, and enhanced public spaces to the heart of the city," a council spokesperson said.
