A nursery worker has appeared in court for alleged sex offences against children in his care.

Nathan Bennett, 30, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with seven counts of being an adult in a position of trust causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He also faces one count of rape.

Mr Bennett, from Corston near Bath, did not enter a plea to any of the charges, which all relate to incidents in Bristol earlier this year.

The defendant was charged on 14 August following a six-month investigation by specialist officers, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The children's families are aware and are being supported, the force said.
