Up to 100 people expected at charity night ride

Organisers hope the night ride will become an annual event

Up to 100 cyclists are expected to take part in a charity night-time cycle ride raising funds for an autism charity, its bosses say.

Organisers said the money raised would go towards the £125,000 a year that Autism Guernsey needed to deliver its children's services on the island.

Riders would be aiming to cycle 10, 20 or 30 miles (16, 32 or 48km) , all starting outside the charity's offices in the Grande Rue, St Martin, at 18:00 BST on Saturday, they added.

Paul Watts, of Autism Guernsey, said: "There's no restrictions on bikes, provided they have lights and are in a roadworthy condition; electric, trikes, cargo bikes, folding bikes all welcome."

He added: "It's a fun event with courses to suit all, from a flat 10 miles that anyone would manage, to 30 miles for more committed cyclists."

Mr Watts said he hoped the event would become an annual fundraiser for Autism Guernsey, having first taken place in 2014.

Mr Potts said he hoped that between 75 and 100 people would take part, raising about £1,000 in the process.
