Man charged with murder of 53-year-old woman

The woman was found with fatal injuries at a property in Rotherham

A man is due to appear in court accused of murdering a woman in Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police said officers were called to a property on Herringthorpe Valley Road, shortly before 18:00 BST on Friday.

A 53-year-old woman was found with serious injuries and, despite medical attention, died at the scene.

Laurence Ward, 57, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, has been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Monday.
