Murder arrest after death of 82-year-old woman

An 87-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of an 82-year-old woman.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Rosemary Way in Waterlooville on Monday shortly before 02:30 BST.

The woman was pronounced dead at the property. Police said specialist officers were supporting her family.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the man, from Waterlooville, remains in police custody.

The force said it was working to establish the circumstances leading to her death.

It said officers from the local neighbourhood policing team would be in the area while inquiries continue.
