Parking restrictions to apply outside more schools

Traffic cameras are to be installed outside six more Liverpool primary schools at pick-up and drop-off times.
Liverpool City Council said its School Streets project, which restricts access to roads near school gates, aimed to improve children's safety as well as boost air quality.
Using Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras to enforce the scheme, weekday term-time restrictions will be in place between 08:15 and 09:15 as well as from 14:30 to 15:30.
Some motorists will be exempt from the restrictions, notably those with a Blue Badge.
'Clean air'
The restrictions will apply around St Clare’s Catholic Primary School, St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, St Cleopas Church of England Primary School, Christ the King Catholic Primary School, Rice Lane Primary School, and St Michaels in the Hamlet Community Primary School.
In November 2023, the council announced plans for the first two schools to be covered by traffic cameras.
During the next four years, the local authority said it aimed to create up to 50 School Streets areas.
It said consultations had been carried out at 20 other schools which could ultimately be included in the scheme.
Simon O’Brien, Liverpool City Region’s walking and cycling commissioner, said: "There is nothing more important than the health of our children.
"So clean air and a feeling of calm around our schools at drop-off and pick-up are vital to help the pupils grow and learn in a positive environment."
