Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a scrap metal unit overnight.

Eight fire engines were at the scene on Pimhole Road, Bury, at its height, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.

The fire service said it was called out to the blaze shortly after 01:30 BST.

Road closures have been put in place around the premises and GMFRS has advised residents to keep their windows and doors closed.

It added four fire engines remain at the scene.
