Thieves have stolen jewellery and more than £20,000 in cash during two housebreakings in Glenrothes.

Detectives said a five-figure sum and electrical items were stolen from a property in Keith Drive in the Fife town on Wednesday.

The following day a five-figure sum, gold jewellery and three designer watches were taken from a property on Parbroath Road.

Police Scotland said the incidents were linked and connected to a black Audi S3 seen in the area at the time.

Significantly valuable items

Insp Callum Winton said the homes were unoccupied during the thefts.

He added: "I'm keen to hear from anyone who may have captured this vehicle on CCTV or doorbell systems or has any information that can assist.

"We would recommend that those choosing to store significantly valuable items within their home invest in robust security measures such as safes, alarms and motion-activated lighting.

"In addition, where possible we encourage the use of safety deposit boxes outwith your home address."
