A 12-year-old girl who helped save a woman from drowning has been given an award for her bravery.
Juliette Broad has been given the guild brooch for demonstrating courage in saving another's life by her school, the Ladies College in St Peter Port.
In August, Juliette and her friend Lillia swam to the aid of Sue Norreys in Havelet Bay after she became unconscious while swimming.
It is the second time in 25 years the honour has been awarded.
Juliette said she and Lillia, who goes to a different school, had been jumping into the water and were sat on the wall waiting for the next jump when a woman shouted and told them to try to help a woman in the sea.
Juliette said: "It took me a few seconds to realise what was going on and I was: 'Well, if no-one's going to do it we'll just have to go'."
The girls swam to Ms Norreys who was floating facedown in the sea.
Juliette continued: "She wasn't conscious and she was just laying there lifeless.
"I flipped her over and tried to hold her head up while Lillia had her body."
Juliette said while it had been "a little bit scary" when Ms Norreys was receiving medical attention on the shore, she had been relieved to have met her weeks after the event and see that she was better.
Receiving the guild brooch was "really exciting", she said.
