Man arrested on suspicion of running town brothel

A man has been arrested on suspicion of keeping a brothel for prostitution in a historic market town.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said the 41-year-old was arrested during a raid on a property in Waterfall Close, Hoddesdon, on Friday.
He was also arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and being in possession of cannabis, the police said. A large amount of cash was also found.
Two women were "assessed for safeguarding support", the force added.
Det Con Elaine Adams, from the Broxbourne Local Crime Unit, said: "This operation was intelligence led and whilst it is often difficult to recognise, we need people to be aware of the signs that someone is being exploited and report their suspicions.
"Whilst not all sex workers are victims of exploitation, many are vulnerable and are more at risk of exploitation.
"Sexual exploitation is a serious and often hidden crime, which we believe is under-reported in Hertfordshire, as many people do not recognise the signs."
She said if anyone has any suspicions or concerns to contact the force.
