Stabbing victim made knife crime plea before death

A teenager made a plea for an end to knife crime just months before he was stabbed to death, police said.
Temur Qureshi, 19, died after he was attacked in Slough, Berkshire, in September 2023.
Jack Patterson, 18, admitted Mr Qureshi's manslaughter and was jailed for nine years on Friday.
After Mr Qureshi's best friend Abdul Aziz Ansari was stabbed to death by a teenager in May 2022, he described knife crime as "a pandemic and we need to find a cure” in an appeal.
Patterson, of Stile Road, Slough, killed Mr Qureshi in Hampden Road in the town at about 11:20 BST on 30 September 2023.
A Home Office post-mortem examination found father-of-one Mr Qureshi died of a haemorrhage and a stab wound to the left lung.
In April, a jury at Reading Crown Court cleared Patterson of murder but found him guilty of carrying a knife.
In a tribute, released by police, Mr Qureshi's mother Tatiana called for all parents to "have a good think about what you and your children are doing" before any further lives were lost.
She said her son was "my world, my reason for breathing", and that his "absence leaves a void so deep, it feels like I'm drowning in sorrow every day".
She said his extended family in Pakistan, who could not attend his funeral, had been left "devastated" by his death.
His "beautiful soul and the cherished moments" they shared will live on, she added.
Det Insp Alice Broad, of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said Mr Qureshi’s family had “remained dignified” throughout the investigation into his death and Patterson’s trial.
Slough local policing area commander Supt Helen Kenny said officers were “committed” to tackling knife crime.
She said they would work with partners “to address the causes behind the violence we have seen in recent years and help end knife crime in the town".
