The application window for community grants of up to £5,000 from the Government of Jersey has now opened.

The Connect Me scheme offers funds to projects which encourage islanders to take part in arts, culture and physical activities.

Paul McGinnety, head of local services for Employment, Social Security and Housing, said: "It's heartwarming to know more people in the community will benefit from the scheme this year."

The application window is due to close on Friday 4 April.

'More active lives'

Mr McGinnety said applications would be judged on how many islanders take part in the activities over the next two years.

"Each year we see how the funding helps islanders lead more active lives, overcome obstacles and enjoy activities that enhance their quality of life, as well as foster greater collaboration between local charities," he said.

It is also hoped the grants lead to work for creative and arts practitioners.

New applicants would have precedence over those who have already been offered grants.

Applicants can apply for grants via the online application form, external.
