We have seen some bright days leading up to Easter in the north-east of England and Cumbria.

Our Weather Watchers captured sunny scenes across the region, but said it was still pretty nippy in the shade.

Here are some of our favourites.

Will the sunny weather last?

Can we put away the brollies and the winter coats?

BBC Weather presenter Jen Bartram said: "The short answer is no."

The calm, sunny and dry weather we have been enjoying will be replaced by something much more typical in the week leading up to Easter, she said.

By Sunday, it will feel "noticeably cooler", with temperatures back down to about average for the time of year, between 11C and 14C.

Jen said: "Into next week, the weather looks much more changeable.

"There'll be quite a lot of cloud, some showers and more widespread rain at times, especially on Tuesday."

It's not all bad, though – there should be some decent sunny spells on Thursday and Good Friday, she said.

"The Easter weekend, however, looks like it may be a story of cloud and drizzle."
