A community centre has reopened following a £100,000 revamp.

The Earlesfield Community Centre in Trent Road, Grantham, had faced "years of neglect", a venue trustee said.

South Kesteven District Council's (SKDC) funding for the building has been used for improvements such as new windows and fire doors, security fencing, a deep clean and relaying uneven paths.

Regular events at the centre include line dancing, a food hub charity and Building Brighter Futures with Grantham College to provide guidance for wellbeing and confidence.

Councillors Steve Cunnington and Lee Steptoe led the refurbishment.

Venue trustees include Steptoe, Cunnington, councillor Tim Harrison and councillor Paul Stokes, the deputy leader of SKDC.

A new kitchen by United Living has been fitted to enable lettings to community groups and a dishwasher has been secured for the premises.

'Local hub'

Steptoe said the refurbishment will allow the venue to "become the local hub" with users such as The Bread and Butter Thing food bank.

Cunnington added: "Years of neglect are now at an end. The residents of Earlesfield now have a community centre fit for the community.

"We have more plans and events coming up and leading into next year, all of which are designed to benefit and bring the community together."
