A man has died and four people have been taken to hospital after a car left a road and came to rest in a ditch, police said.
Leicestershire Police said the single-vehicle crash involved a grey Mazda 3 Tamura, which left the A6, in Kibworth, at about 05:45 GMT on Tuesday.
A male passenger sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers, a woman and two men, and the driver were taken to hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening, the force said.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police said the car was travelling county-bound from Leicester towards Market Harborough at the time of the crash.
The force has urged anyone with any information or dashcam footage to contact officers.
Leicestershire County Council has advised people the Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste site, situated on the same road, is shut due to the collision.
"The site is likely to remain closed for the rest of the day," the authority said. "We apologise for the inconvenience."
The council encouraged people to check its website for alternative sites.
