Women arrested after 'corrosive substance thrown'

Two women have been arrested as part of an acid attack investigation after a man had a liquid thrown "over him".

Detectives said they received a report that two people approached the victim, in Hilfield Lane, Aldenham, on Monday, 18 March, and threw a substance, thought to be "corrosive".

Hertfordshire Police said two women, aged 34 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH), being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and for being in possession of firearms in a public place. They remain in police custody.

Det Insp Claire Richardson-Wabe said: "It has been a complex investigation since it was reported, and it has involved significant resources including specialist teams and the Local Crime Unit in Hertsmere."

She appealed for anyone with information, or who witnessed the attack to come forward.
