High wind warning shuts all Western Isles schools

All Western Isles schools and nurseries are closed for the day following warnings of wind gusting to 85mph.
The Met Office, external has issued a yellow weather warning for north and north-east Scotland to cover from 05:00 to 19:00 on Wednesday.
Forecasters said gusts of 65-75mph were expected widely, but some places could experience gusts of up to 85mph.
The Met Office has a separate yellow warning for the rest of Scotland from 09:00 to 17:00 due to a forecast of blustery high winds.
Western Isles local authority, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said schools and nurseries were expected to open as normal on Thursday.
More than 10 Highland Council schools, mainly in Sutherland and Lochaber, are also shut.
