Police search property after teen's fatal shooting

Police investigating the killing of a teenager in Sheffield have been searching a home in the city.

Father-of-two Kevin Pokuta, 19, was shot in the early hours of 12 December and died the following day.

Officers executed a search warrant at a property in Denholme Close in the Burngreave area on Thursday.

They were expected to remain there conducting searches for the rest of the day, South Yorkshire Police said.

'Tragic death'

Det Ch Insp Joanne Kemp said: “Our murder investigation is progressing at pace and we are working tirelessly to trace those responsible for Kevin’s tragic death.

"We are carrying out multiple inquiries and today’s warrant is just one aspect of the ongoing work taking place."

Mr Pokuta was shot in Page Hall Road, Sheffield, shortly before 01:00 GMT on 12 December.

He died in hospital the following day.

A post-mortem examination found he died as a result of a single gunshot wound.

A 21-year-old man from the Manor area of the city, a 23-year-old man from Walkley and a 41-year-old man from Burngreave were arrested on suspicion of murder and released on police bail.

South Yorkshire Police said witnesses or anyone who could help with their inquiries should call 101.
