Man, 19, killed in car park stabbing named

A 19-year-old who was stabbed to death in a car park has been named by police as they have made a total of five arrests on suspicion of his murder.

Mohammed Afzal died after the attack on Market Street in Bury at about 21:00 BST on Friday, Greater Manchester Police said.

Five men, all aged 19, have been held over the attack with one of the suspects since released on bail, the force added.

One was arrested at Manchester Airport early on Sunday, while two others were arrested in Bury and Bolton on Saturday and a further two arrested earlier, the force said.

Mr Afzal, know by his loved ones as Isa, died from stab wounds at the scene.

His family have been given support by specialist officers, a police spokesman said.

Det Ch Insp John Charlton said: "Officers have worked non-stop for the past few days, resulting the arrest of five people on suspicion of murder.

"While our investigation is still in its very early days, we are making good progress with our various lines of enquiry, and I want thank those who have come forward with information to assist us."

He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the force.
