Rail passengers across parts of north-west England are facing major delays and cancellations due to a signalling fault.
Several services run by Northern, TransPennine Express, and Avanti West Coast have been cancelled, including trains moving in and out of Manchester Piccadilly, Victoria, and Liverpool Lime Street.
Operators said the signal failure happened in the Wigan area and that Network Rail engineers are on site to fix the problem.
Passengers have been advised to travel on alternative trains in the meantime.
Travellers are advised to check the operators' websites for the latest information.
