Staff for a company that supplies power to the the Sellafield nuclear site have accepted a new pay deal, their union has said.

Almost 40 workers at the Fellside combined heat and power facility, which supplies steam and power at the Cumbria site, were set to walk out for 24 hours last after previously turning down two offers.

But before any industrial action took place, owners PX Limited made a new offer which union members have now accepted.

PX Limited has been approached for comment.

Unite said staff accepted a pay offer of 4% across all roles along with an additional one-off 1% payment for this year, backdated to 1 May.

The union said PX Limited has also committed to undertake benchmarking to ensure pay is competitive within the energy sector.
