Students concerned about the next stage of their education in Guernsey after doing GCSEs have been invited to information sessions.

The Guernsey Institute has set up two events at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre on Friday and Tuesday to offer advice and guidance to pupils who are unsure what they want to do next after picking up their results.

Members of the college's student support team will be at the venue between 10:00 and 16:00 BST on both days with sessions running on a drop-in basis.

Oli Davies, director of young people at The Guernsey Institute, said the post-GCSE period was a "significant life moment" for many students.

He added whether a student had performed well or not in their exams, it can be a moment where they have lots of questions about the next steps they plan to take.

"There's always options, that's the most important thing to remember," Mr Davies said.

"I've never known a student in the 11 years that I've worked at the college who goes 'well I can't do anything here' - there's always a solution and there's always a plan."
