A lorry driver has died after his vehicle left the carriageway and overturned on the A1(M) near Boston Spa.

The crash took place on the southbound carriageway between J45 near Wetherby and J44 for Tadcaster at about 13:20 BST on Tuesday, West Yorkshire Police said.

The driver, a 57-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene and the southbound carriageway was closed for about seven hours, according to National Highways.

Police have appealed for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash or the lorry, to get in touch.
