A police officer has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car.

Northamptonshire Police said he was a pedestrian on Station Road in Raunds when he was hit by a blue VW Polo at about 12:35 BST on Thursday.

The officer was already responding to an unrelated single-vehicle collision on the road at the time.

A man in his 20s, who police say was driving the Polo, was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, or the events leading to it.
