Roads to close in East Yorkshire for surface repairs

A number of roads across East Yorkshire are to be closed for "essential repairs", East Riding Council said.

It is part of a £250,000 investment in upgrading road surfaces.

Work will be carried out in Bainton, Fridaythorpe, Goole, Stamford Bridge, Howden and Driffield.

Weather permitting, the work is due to start on 19 September and continue until late October.

Councillor Paul West said: "All of these schemes will be short-time road repairs and we have have purposefully scheduled most of them to be carried out on evenings and night times to make sure they cause the least disruption to traffic as possible.

"Thank you to local residents and drivers for their cooperation while we carry out this work."

The schedule is as follows:

Bainton

The scheme is due to start with road repairs at the junction of the A614 and Station Road in Bainton between 19:00 and 00:00 BST on 19 September and 22 September.

Resurfacing work is also due to take place on the roundabout connecting the A614 and Bainton Road on 25 September.

During the work, the B1248 Bainton Road and C1246 North Dalton Road will be closed, and Station Road will be closed during resurfacing of the junction, with a diversion route in place.

Fridaythorpe

Road repairs are scheduled to take place on the A166 Roman Road to Fridaythorpe, from 23 September to 25 September.

Patching works will be carried out on the road between Fridaythorpe and the Wayrham layby, overnight between 19:00 and 06:00.

Traffic will be managed using a convoy system, which helps reduce the speed of vehicles for the safety of the workforce.

Goole

Road work is due to take place on Bridge Street and Tom Pudding Way on 26, 29 and 30 September.

Patching works will be carried out overnight, between 20:00 and 05:00.

Tom Pudding Way will be closed to traffic during patching operations, with a signed diversion route in place via Andersen Road and Rawcliffe Road.

During works at the Bridge Street/Normandy Way junction, no right turns will be permitted when exiting Normandy Way. Traffic will be able to access Normandy Way from the Lower Bridge Street side only, with traffic diverted via the Clock Tower roundabout.

Stamford Bridge

The council's road team will them move on to Stamford Bridge, to undertake repairs on the A166 road, scheduled from 1 October to 9 October.

Patching works are due to be carried out on weekday evenings between 19:00 and 00:00 BST.

Traffic management will be in place, including temporary traffic signals and a convoy system, to ensure the safety of the workforce.

Howden

Patching work is planned along the A63 between Knedlington crossroads at Howden and the East Riding boundary in mid-October for up to five days, with work taking place between 21.30 and 03.30.

Extensive patching will taker place at the junction of the A63 and B1230 Selby Road, which will require the closure of Selby Road for one night.

Signed diversions will be in place.

Driffield

The final road patching is scheduled to take place on the roundabouts on the Driffield bypass in late October.

In order for the repairs to take place, there will be overnight closures of A166 York Road, B1249 Scarborough Road and North Street, Nafferton on separate nights.

Signed diversions will be in place and advanced signs will be erected two weeks before the closure informing of the exact dates.
