Railway station cheese and butter thief jailed

Police say Hayley Skinner had flagrant disregard for an order banning her from Piccadilly Station

A thief already banned from a railway station stole five packets of cheese and four tubs of butter from one of its shops.
British Transport Police (BTP) said Hayley Skinner, 35, of Wadeson Road, Manchester, was jailed for 20 weeks at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on 21 October for breaching her Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
She admitted theft and breach of the two-year order banning her from Manchester Piccadilly at an earlier hearing.
BTP said Skinner stole the dairy items worth £35 from a shop at the station on the morning of 17 October and was detained by its staff.
When transport police arrived and arrested her, she was recognised as subject to a CBO.
Ch Insp James Mitchell, from BTP, said: "Skinner's CBO has stringent conditions meaning she isn't allowed into Manchester Piccadilly unless she has a valid ticket and is intending to travel, and her actions on that day show she very clearly did not.
"Skinner's flagrant disregard for the order meant the court had no option but to give her a custodial sentence, which is an excellent result for the local officers who are working hard to tackle retail crime alongside many other challenges."
