Brigg market will return every Saturday from March

A weekly Saturday market is to return to a North Lincolnshire town for the first time in 25 years.

Brigg Market will run every Saturday from March until December on Wrawby Street, currently there is a market every Thursday and on three Saturdays each month.

The Saturday traders will be themed and plans include a flea market, an arts and crafts market, a lifestyle market and a farmers market.

A spokesperson for Brigg Community Partnership, which organise the markets, said: "We are very excited about these new markets and with local support we believe this could bring the shoppers back to Brigg."

On any rare fifth Saturday in a month, North Lincolnshire Council will work with local schools and colleges to host a young traders market.

Events are also planned in the town, including a pudding party on 10 May and the annual pump blessing on 14 June.

The partnership's spokesperson added: "The variety on offer complements the town's independent shops and will work together with local businesses and residents in Brigg to enhance the growing traditional market town."
