Crews battling large industrial unit fire
- Published
Fire crews are tackling a large fire at an industrial unit.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said crews were called to the site off Dorchester Road in Sturminster Marshall at 19:28 GMT on Thursday.
The wooden building, which contains a "number of cylinders", is "fully involved" in the fire, with "multiple tractor units and motorbikes" also affected, the service said.
DWFRS warned on Thursday night the A31 may need to be closed because of the smoke.
Crews from Wimborne, Poole, Hamworthy, Bere Regis, Blandford and Redhill Park are in attendance, as well as equipment from Hamworthy and Ringwood.
Two further water carriers have been requested from Eastleigh and Bridport.
DWFRS said firefighters were having to "maintain a safe distance due to the shed also containing a number of cylinders", and that they expected to be on the scene throughout the night.
People are being advised to avoid the area.
