Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died and two other people were injured in a house in York, police said.

Officers were called to an address on Vyner Street in the Haxby Road area of the city at 19:20 GMT on Saturday, North Yorkshire Police said.

A man in his 20s and a man in his 30s, both from the York area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Det Supt Fran Naughton said extra patrols were taking place in the area following the incident.

One of the men found at the property, who was in his 20s and from the Bradford area, was taken to hospital where he later died.

The other man was taken to hospital and police said he was in a stable condition.

The woman was treated at the scene for her injuries.

A scene guard at the address remained in place on Monday.

'Fast-moving investigation'

Det Supt Naughton said: "This has been a fast-moving investigation with teams working around the clock, resulting in four arrests within just over 24 hours of the incident taking place.

“We know how worrying incidents like this can be for people who live and work in the area and as part of our response we have extra patrols in the area to support the community."
