A Herefordshire community group has plans to take on a large new premises to help their work across the county.

Herefordshire Community Environment Group diverts furniture, household goods and clothing away from landfill.

The group, also known as the Herefordshire Community Reuse and Recycling Group, donates what is collected to those in need, including the homeless and refugees.

It is seeking to change the use of Wye Valley Court on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate into a store and small shop for donated goods.

The group's planning application states the first floor would be used for offices and training.

There would be no additions or changes to the fabric of the building, the group said.

Herefordshire Council's development manager Simon Withers had earlier said planning permission would be required for a change to “storage use with ancillary retail”.

The application has already drawn nearly 30 messages of support, with no objections.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
