Three more men have been charged over the disorder in Staffordshire during the summer.

Mark Boole, 64, of Biddulph, Staffordshire, and Simon Beech, 36, of Chell Heath, Stoke-on-Trent, have been accused of violent disorder in Stoke-on-Trent on 3 August.

Scott Turner, 27, of Bolehall, Tamworth, has been charged with violent disorder in Tamworth on 4 August.

This brings the number of people charged in connection with both incidents to 58 with 140 arrests made in total, Staffordshire Police said.

Mr Boole was scheduled to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday, while Mr Beech will be at the same court on 22 October and Mr Turner at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday.

The disorder broke out across the UK during the summer after disinformation was spread about the alleged perpetrator involved in the murder of three girls in Southport in July.

The unrest in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, occurred on 3 August as a result of clashes between protesters and counter-protesters.

A day later, a group of people gathered by the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Tamworth, believed to have been housing asylum seekers, where a fire was ignited as police with riot gear attempted to keep the crowd back.
