The woman's death is being treated as unexplained, police said

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a property.

Emergency services found the woman, aged in her 30s, at an address in St Mary's Grove, Walton Village, Liverpool, earlier, Merseyside Police said.

The force said it was currently treating her death as unexplained.

A 47-year-old man from Walton Village is being held and has been taken to a police station for questioning.

Det Ch Insp Andy McCourt said: "These are the early stages of our investigation and we are looking to establish the circumstances into what we are treating as an unexplained death at the current time.

"The victim's family are being supported by specialist officers as these enquiries continue."

He appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.
