A community football club in Guernsey has announced the launch of the Skipton Saints Sixes, a six-a-side football festival for children aged six to 10 years old.

St Martin's AC said the tournament would take place on Saturday from 12:00 to 19:00 BST at Blanche Pierre Lane.

Organisers said it was hoped the event would bring together young players from across the island for a fun-filled day of football, offering them the chance to enjoy fast-paced matches and to develop their skills.

Dom Heaume, St Martin's Football Club co-ordinator, said it was "a brilliant addition" to the club's youth programme.

He said: "It gives our youngest players a taste of tournament football in a friendly, supportive environment.

"We're really excited to see so many kids out on the pitch, having fun and developing a love for the game that will stay with them for years to come."

Organisers said more than 500 children were set to benefit from the initiative, while helping to grow grassroots football.
