A man who is running the Brighton and Paris marathons for charity is planning to go the extra mile by walking from the first event to the second.

Matt Clayton, from Rustington in West Sussex, will run the Brighton event on Sunday.

He will then walk 11 miles (17.7km) to Newhaven to catch a ferry to Dieppe, then walk the 105 miles (168.9km) to Paris, before running that city's marathon on Sunday.

He is raising money for the Wynn Trust, a charity which supports former boxers with brain injuries.

"The training's been going well" Mr Clayton told BBC Radio Sussex.

"I've been running with a few running clubs.

"It's 167 miles in total I've got to do in the eight days."

His only previous marathon was Brighton in 2021, but he ran 2025's half marathon in the city as part of his preparation for this challenge.

"I'd like to think I'm mentally strong enough to get it done," he said.

"I might have to grit my teeth at times and I know it's going to be painful on the legs, but I'll certainly give it my best shot.

"I know all my family are behind me, so that will be the motivation when it gets tough, I'll just be trying to do it for my family."
