An XL bully dog has been found decapitated in Evesham, Worcestershire, prompting an RSPCA appeal.

The decomposed body was discovered by a member of the public in a shallow grave in Red Lane, Hampton, on 30 August.

RSPCA Inspector Claire Davey said the charity was relying on anyone with information to help with the investigation as the dog was not microchipped.

"This is a very distressing incident and we are appealing for the public to help us find the person responsible for this," she said.

The charity said in the first eight months since the breed was banned it had seen seen a 164% increase in cruelty and neglect of XL bullies.

In 2024, 103 dogs compared to 39 in 2023 were abused, said the charity.
