A woman who died after being hit by a car was "kind, caring, intelligent and witty", her family have said.

Imogen Higgs, 22, was walking along Mauldeth Road West in Withington, Manchester, when she was struck by a car on 31 May and died later in hospital.

Her family said they had been "destroyed" by her death and were "all devastated and heartbroken".

Two men, aged 18 and 20, who were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, have been released on bail, Greater Manchester Police said.

Ms Higgs had graduated from the University of Manchester with a history degree last year and had been working at the university for the last nine months.

In a tribute, her family said that she was "beautiful inside and out" and "she brought sunshine into everyone’s lives".

They added: “She was intelligent, witty, funny, thoughtful, kind and caring.

“We would like to thank the people at the scene who tried to save Immy’s life, including the numerous paramedics and hospital staff."
