A woman and child found dead in unexplained circumstances in Cornwall are thought to be mother and son, police have said.
The ambulance service called police at about 10:10 BST on Saturday following a report of concern for the welfare of two people in the Bodmin area.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers attended a property in the Fletchersbridge area, where a woman and a child were given emergency medical treatment, but both were confirmed dead at the scene.
It said formal identification was ongoing but the pair were believed to be a mother and son, aged 31 and nine.
'Incredibly sad'
Officers said their next of kin had been informed and they were being supported by specially trained officers.
Det Insp Neil Blanchard said their deaths were being treated as an isolated incident and officers were not looking to speak to anyone else.
"This is a tragic and incredibly sad incident, and our thoughts are with their family and friends," he said.
"The deaths are being treated as unexpected and are currently unexplained, so we are investigating them to establish the full circumstances of what occurred."
The force urged people not to speculate on social media about what may have occurred.
