Manx Grand Prix evening session abandoned due to rain

The evening's contingency qualifying session for the Manx Grand Prix has been abandoned after rain fell on parts of the course shortly after roads closed.
Daytime practice for the Manx Grand Prix was pushed back by more than three hours earlier after heavy rain overnight and a crash on open roads.
The 2024 event has faced severe disruption to its schedule since getting underway on Sunday.
Irish racer Louis O’Regan died after crashing during the meeting's opening laps and poor weather has led to the cancellation of all of the event's evening sessions so far.
Roads around the 37.73-mile (60km) Mountain Course, had been due to close at 09:00 BST for Friday's scheduled daytime session but were kept open until 13:00.
Race organisers had announced an initial two-hour delay to allow roads to dry, which was then extended, before a further 30 minutes was needed to allow for the road to be swept after a crash in the area of the 32nd Milestone.
On top of Friday’s scheduled daytime qualifying, a contingency evening session had also been set to be used by race organisers between 18:00 and 21:00.
However, that was abandoned 30 minutes after roads closed after the weather closed in once more.
Racing at the Manx Grand Prix had already been pushed back by a day to Saturday following the disruption.
Organisers have now confirmed initial plans to use Sunday's contingency closures to run races have been dropped due to the forecast.
The event is due to run until Monday.
