A town council said it had been left "deeply saddened" after four of its Tommy statues were vandalised.

Long Stratton Town Council said the knives of the statues had been "cut off" sometime between 23 and 26 November.

Replacing the silhouettes, which were installed for Remembrance Day, was likely to cost £700.

Norfolk Police said anyone with information should contact it, external.

The statues had been installed at various locations in Long Stratton, including the memorial garden on Swan Lane, the village hall, Congregational Church and The Plain.

Tommy statues were designed for the Royal British Legion Industries charity, and they have been installed by councils across the UK.
