A hospital has reopened after it was forced to close due to a lack of heating and hot water.

Selby War Memorial Hospital temporarily closed on Friday with patients moved to other facilities.

A spokesperson for York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said the issues had been due to a "technical fault" with a boiler.

"The problems experienced have since been resolved and services to the site fully reinstated," the trust spokesperson said.

"While the building was safe, to ensure we could continue to provide safe care and comfort for our inpatients, we safely relocated them to other community hospital sites, where they will remain."

They said anyone with an appointment at the hospital should attend as planned unless they had been contacted to rearrange.

“Thank you to our staff who have worked incredibly hard to resolve the issues, and to our patients for their patience and understanding.”
