Fatal crash victim was on way to Take That concert

A pedestrian who died after a collision involving a car was on her way to a Take That concert, police have said.

Avon and Somerset Police were called at around 17:30 BST on Sunday to the incident on the A370 Brunel Way, near Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol.

The female victim was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.

The BBC has approached representatives for Take That, who confirmed the band had reached out to the victim's family privately.

A woman in her sixties was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs, and has been released under investigation.

The pop group were playing at the stadium - home of Bristol City FC and Bristol Bears - as part of a national tour.

Police said the victim's family have been informed and are being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.
