Police have arrested a murderer who absconded from an open prison and was reported missing on Thursday morning.

Daniel Barker, 34, went missing from Hollesley Bay jail on the Suffolk coast and missed a roll call.

He is serving a life sentence for murder, having been jailed in 2005 while in his teens.

He handed himself in to police in Ipswich on Thursday night and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where he remained.

Suffolk Police thanked the public for their assistance.

The force said he had links to the Bradford area.
