A "poor water supply" at the scene of a blaze left firefighters having to rely on a property's swimming pool.

The Essex fire service was called to the blaze in Primrose Lane in Wrabness, near Harwich, at 00:09.

The cause was recorded as accidental, the service said.

"Crews found part of the roof and building alight and worked really hard to stop it from spreading," said watch manager Luke Beardmore.

"Due to the remote location and lack of a good water supply, they used water from the swimming pool to help extinguish the fire."

Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 01:30 but remained at the scene until 03:20 to carry out further checks.
