A "traffic dodging" tractor driver who lost control of a trailer that was overflowing with empty pallets on a dual carriageway has been disqualified from driving.

Jack Hesketh told police he "just wanted to get home" when he was stopped on the A59 in Preston on 6 June.

Dashcam footage sent to Lancashire Police showed the 30-year-old undertaking a car before losing control and mounting the central reservation sending pallets flying on to the opposite carriageway.

Hesketh, of Hutton, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Preston Magistrates' Court and was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay over £1,500.

Sgt Chris Birchall of Lancashire Police said: "The only way to describe this manner of driving is selfish and dangerous.

"Hesketh's actions in trying to get home could have resulted in several other innocent members of the public never going home again.

"This standard of driving will not be tolerated and anyone who puts others at risk in the manner of their driving will be robustly prosecuted."
