A search for a swimmer reported missing off Cornwall's coast has been stood down, it has been confirmed.

HM Coastguard said on Monday the search for a man who had been swimming in an area north of Bude between Sandymouth and Northcott Mouth had been stopped.

Emergency services were initially called out to the incident at 14:25 BST on Sunday.

A coastguard spokesperson said search and rescue helicopters, rescue teams from Boscastle, Bude and Hartland, Bude and Padstow RNLI lifeboats and Devon and Cornwall Police were all called out to the scene.
