An Ipswich cinema which was previously set to close has announced it will remain open.

Ipswich Omniplex had previously told staff it would close on 24 March after less than four months of operation.

Employees at the time said they felt "really hurt" by the decision and had been offered jobs in other UK locations.

Omniplex has now said it was "delighted" to announce it would remain open.

"Movie fans of Ipswich, we are delighted to announce that Omniplex Ipswich, external will remain open," a statement from the cinema said on social media.

Omniplex acquired the Buttermarket Ipswich site in December after the previous operator, Empire Cinemas, went into administration.

It was one of five locations taken on by Omniplex at the end of 2023.

The company confirmed to the BBC that the cinema would remain open, but did not want to comment further.
