Palliative care charity opens new centre

Compton Care has opened a new centre in Low Hill, Wolverhampton

A palliative care charity in Wolverhampton has opened a new centre in the city to help provide services to patients and their loved ones.

Compton Care's new facility is located at 30-32 Ruskin Road in Low Hill, which was previously used as a GP practice.

The charity said on Friday that it was proud and delighted to officially open the centre.

A Compton Care spokesperson said: "This new development will enable more people in the local community living with a life-limiting condition to access the expert care and support they need."

The new centre includes a palliative care outpatient clinic, designed to enhance the quality of life for patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses by managing symptoms and providing emotional and practical support.

Compton Care also offers a wide range of enhanced care services including psychological support therapies, which will be available from the new facility.

Rachel Overfield, chief executive officer at Compton Care, said: "We put our patients and their families at the heart of everything we do, so we are thrilled that our new Ruskin Road centre is now open and able to help more local people access the specialist care and support they need."

Compton Care said its new centre, the charity's second facility, would make access to services more easily available to people living in the East of Wolverhampton and reduce the need to travel to their main site in Compton.
